Spicy Exotics Dragon Fruit ratings table:

Flavor  – When testing for sweetness of the Dragon Fruit a device called a refractometer is used. It uses the brix scale of sweetness. This scale ranges from 0 to 32. The higher the number the sweeter the fruit. In addition to sweetness any unique attributes such as size and flavor are also considered when giving this rating.
Fruit Production – For the rating we look at how many fruits are produced from a single plant. Also, how easy or difficult it is to grow is considered. For example, a variety that is self-fertile will get a higher rating than an non self-fertile variety.
Growing –  This is a rating of the overall hardiness of the plant. In addition to this, we also look at how quickly the plant adapts from cuttings and how long it will take before producing the first fruit.

Thai Dragon

Thai Dragon is a fantastic edible Dragon Fruit plant obtained from Thailand. It has large fruit up to 4 inches long by 2 inches across weighing up to 1.5 pounds. It has large white fragrant flowers that adorn the plant in late spring to early fall in Louisiana. These flowers are elaborate and bloom only at night. When pollination occurs round pink colored edible fruits will appear. The round fruit is covered with distinguished green scales and can get up to 5 inches long. Enclosed in the thin skin is a large mass of sweet white flavored flesh and numerous small black seeds. The fruit can be eaten out-of-hand, but even better chilled. In full production, in ideal conditions, this variety may have up to 4 fruiting cycles per year. This Dragon Fruit variety works best in well-drained composted soils. It is a fast and self-fertile easy grower. This is a great choice for anyone who wants to start growing Dragon Fruit for the first time. This Dragon Fruit variety was acquired from a tropical nursery in Louisiana.
